STEAM at SAHS
STEAM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, ARTS AND MATHEMATICS)
Industry research shows that careers in science, technology, engineering, arts and math are among the fastest growing and highest paying job sectors in the United States. St. Anthony High School’s STEAM integrated curriculum nurtures interest and better prepares students for careers in these fields. The technology sector alone is expected to add 1.4 million jobs to the national economy by 2020, according to STEM education advocate groups, CODE2040 and the Level Playing Field Institute. Findings also indicate, however, that 70% of STEM jobs will remain unfilled within the same time period, illustrating either a lack of interest in these jobs or a lack of qualified candidates.
It is St. Anthony High School’s goal to spark student interest in the possibility of pursuing STEAM related careers early to provide them with the tools to succeed. SAHS will offer students a wide variety of options, enabling them to tailor their STEAM curriculum through a selection of interconnected project-based courses designed to address problem solving and real world applications.
