We pray that this communication finds you safe and healthy.
As we celebrate this Easter Season, we continue to lean on our faith, family and community to meet today’s challenges. We understand that this has been an unusual second semester for all students, teachers and parents. Your support and partnership has helped guide SAHS through these uncertain times.
Below we have important updates that include:
1. Academics 2. Activities 3. Summer School 4. Graduation
Thank you for your continued partnership with SAHS. It is only through the grace of God that we have persevered together.
General Student Informational Updates:
SAHS will continue with Remote Online Learning until further notice. We will be sending updates with any additional information on a weekly basis to keep you well informed.
As a way to support our students and teachers, we are adjusting the school calendar to include “No Class” days on the following Mondays: 4/27, 5/11, and 5/25 (Memorial Day). Our intention is to provide students time to catch up on assignments, get ahead on schoolwork, or step away from ’school’ for a few hours to enjoy life as a teenager.
Due to the continuing safe-at-home response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Sunset Serenade has been cancelled, and the Junior-Senior Prom has been postponed until it is safe again to gather in large groups.
Due to the current health crisis, summer school will also be Remote Online Learning. Please visit www.longbeachsaints.org for more information on courses offered, registration and fees. Email Mr. Brett Minter at Brett.Minter@longbeachsaints.org for registration information or if you have any additional questions.
We are roughly four weeks away from senior finals, which are scheduled for May 19, 20, and 21. This also happens to be the last week of AP Exams. If a senior has an AP Exam during these three days, they are expected to reschedule that final exam for a different date and time. For example, seniors taking the AP Macroeconomics exam on Thursday, May 21st, are excused from any final exams that date, but will have to reschedule those exams with their teachers. Any questions about senior final exams can be directed towards those teachers.
Senior Lawn Signs:
Senior yard signs are in production! Once we receive them from the manufacturer we will set up a delivery system to ensure every senior is recognized. The yard sign fees are covered through senior fees.
St. Anthony High School will be celebrating the Class of 2020 with a virtual graduation production! We want to make sure that our SAINTS are celebrated and recognized for their accomplishments.
How will it work? (We will remain in compliance with local and state health departments)
The virtual graduation will be a prerecorded/pre-filmed production that will continue the tradition of being held in the Errion Gymnasium.
The stage in the Gym will be set, all speeches (singing of Star Spangled Banner by a graduate, prayer and blessing by Fr. George Aguilera, president, principal, keynote speaker, valedictorian and salutatorian speeches – all will be filmed in advance, delivered from the stage individually and spliced together for a seamless production. Seniors will each be filmed individually (students will be given a time slot) in cap and gown walking on stage and picking up their diploma.
Following this filmed walk, each senior will be photographed by our professional photographer, individually and with parents/selected family, in the gym with backdrop. Names will be announced for each graduate as they progress across the stage. The film will end with the Alma Mater and a collage of video clips with teachers and staff offering congratulations. It will be a lot of work but enables us to lean in on our technology strength and honor this milestone in our Seniors’ lives with an amazing keepsake. The grad program will be printed and mailed the next week with diplomas.
When will I get more information?
We will be having a ZOOM Senior Parent meeting on Wednesday, May 6th from 6:30pm -8pm to discuss and disseminate more information. Please mark your calendars and continue to monitor your email for the Zoom meeting link.
