Academic Decathlon: Team in Training



Saint Anthony's team has been training all year for the Southern California Private Schools Academic Decathlon on February 7. Students are tested on ALL 10 subjects: Language, Literature, Speech, Interview, Math, Economics, Social Science, Music, Art, and Super Quiz. Currently, everyone is working hard on getting their prepared speech done for the meet. They are required to give about a four minute persuasive speech on a controversial topic. In addition, they also have to read a book called Bless Me, Ultima. Please see the above video to hear Paul Mondares '11 speak about his experience.

This year's Academic Decathlon team has also been restructured to also participate in the American Math Competition - the oldest and most prestigious math competition for high school students. Winners of the competition not only earn recognition, but also can advance far enough to earn a place in the United States Math Team. The roster for both teams are below:
