SAN PEDRO REGIONAL BISHOP ALEX SALAZAR CELEBRATES THE MASS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Students, faculty and staff along with several parents gathered to give a warm Saints Welcome to San Pedro Regional Bishop Alex Salazar as he celebrated our opening Mass of the school year, the Mass of the Holy Spirit.  We were joined by our friends "across the street" at St. Anthony Elementary School, the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students along with their teachers.

Bishop Salazar's theme focused on our need to be open to embracing the Holy Spirit as a means of being closer to God.  He possesses a unique style and ability to connect with youth and for that we are very grateful.

Our SAHS Choir, under the direction of faculty members Mr. Sam Torres and assisted by Mr. Mike Lloyd, did a superb job of enhancing our celebration with an array of music and outstanding voices.

As a sign of humility and thanksgiving, Bishop Salazar knelt at the foot of the altar as all in attendance bestowed their blessing and best wishes upon him as he embarks on the next chapter in his journey as priest and bishop.  He has faithfully served our region the past five years and soon will begin his next task to serve the Archdiocese under the direction of the Cardinal from his new post in the Archdiocesan Center in L.A.

A special note to our parents:  Please take a pat on the back for ensuring students showed up in mandatory Mass attire.... they looked great!
