FRL 102 Spanish 1 A, B
Grade: 9, 10 One year; meets CSU/UC “e” requirement
This Spanish course is an introduction to speaking, reading, writing and comprehension in Spanish. Language structures appropriate to this level are covered and correct pronunciation and further intonation are developed. The course develops appreciation of the culture, customs, geography, history, and traditions of Spanish speaking people throughout the world. 

FRL 103 Spanish 1 Heritage
Grade: 9 One year; meets CSU/US "e" requirement 
This Spanish course focuses on developing the skills for students that have experience speaking Spanish at an early age. It is a native speaking class. Students further develop their skills in writing, speaking, and reading in Spanish. Students learn their appreciation of their culture, customs, geography, history, and traditions of Spanish speaking people throughout the world. 

FRL 202 Spanish 2 A, B
Grade: 9, 10, 11 One year; meets CSU/UC “e” requirement
Prerequisite: Spanish 1
This Spanish course will provide further practice in comprehension, speaking, oral reading and writing. Language structures appropriate to this level are covered and correct pronunciation and further intonation are developed. The course develops appreciation of the culture, customs, geography, history, and traditions of Spanish speaking people throughout the world. 

FRL 203 Spanish 2 Heritage
Grade: 9, 10, 11 One year; meets CSU/US "e" requirement
Prerequisite: Spanish 1 Heritage
This Spanish course will provide further practice in comprehension, speaking, oral, reading and writing for the heritage Spanish speaker. Language structures appropriate to this level are covered and correct pronunciation and further intonation are developed. The course develops appreciation of the culture, customs, geography, history, and traditions of Spanish speaking people throughout the world. 

FRL 302 Spanish 3 A, B
Grade: 10, 11, 12 One year; meets CSU/UC “e” requirement
Prerequisite: Spanish 2
This Spanish course will provide further practice in comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Language structures appropriate to this level are covered and correct pronunciation and further intonation are developed. The course develops appreciation of the culture, customs, geography, history, and traditions of Spanish speaking people throughout the world.

FRL 402 Spanish 4 A, B
Grade 11, 12 One year; meets CSU/UC "e" requirement
Prerequisite:  Spanish 3
This Spanish course will provide further practice in comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Students will learn to relate more with the different cultures, and will learn ways that the language will be useful to them. They will also develop more of an appreciation of the culture, customs, history and traditions of Spanish speakers throughout the world.

FRL 404 Advanced Placement Spanish Langauge
Grade: 11, 12 One year; meets CSU/UC "e" requirement
Prerequisite:  Spanish 3 or 4 Must have a grade of an “A” to continue to AP Spanish Language 
The advanced placement Spanish language course offers the equivalent of a third-year college course in advanced Spanish writing and conversation. It encompasses oral skills, reading comprehension, auditory activities, grammar, and composition. Such a course, emphasizing the use of Spanish for active communication, has the following objectives:
  1. the ability to comprehend formal and informal spoken Spanish
  2. the acquisition of vocabulary and an accurate reading of newspaper and magazine articles, as well as of modern literature in Spanish
  3. the ability to write essays in Spanish and 
  4. the ability to express ideas orally with accuracy and fluency. 
Students are expected to take the AP Exam.
