Campus Ministry Program

The Campus Ministry class at St. Anthony fosters leadership by providing opportunities for senior students to develop and demonstrate leadership qualities while developing faith-sharing skills and service. Beyond planning and communication skills, leadership encourages students to understand their role in serving the community and to commit to a life of service.
Students learn to:
-
Prepare and lead retreats
-
Plan liturgies and prayer services
-
Engage in personal prayer and reflection
-
Speak before groups
-
Lead regular prayer services in the school chapel
-
Facilitate outreach to students and families in need
-
Maintain the chapel environment
Class members take on key roles in school liturgies including:
-
Planning music and scripture selection
-
Serving as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, altar servers, lectors, and cantors.
Through retreat training overseen by the Campus Minister, students organize and lead school retreats, and provide support to local Catholic elementary schools by assisting with retreats for younger students.
Campus Ministry in the Community
This class has established partnerships with local organizations and dedicates significant class time to direct service activities. Partner organizations include Precious Lamb Preschool, Colonial Care Center, Regency Palms Senior Living, Catholic Charities Long Beach, Miller Children’s Hospital, Heal the Bay, St. Anthony Elementary School, and New Life Beginnings.
Beyond direct service, the class ensures all St. Anthony students have access to information about local non-profit organizations for completing their service hours and to inform the student body about service opportunities.
