SAHS Hires New Counselor and Baseball Coach

Kris Jondle has 20 years experience in high-school counseling serving 11 years at St. John Bosco High School and, most recently, 9 years at Santa Margarita High School. His duties have included:

-Writing letters of recommendation each Fall/Winter for seniors.
-Schedule individual graduation checks with all juniors.
-Arrange individual college planning appointments with each junior prior to senior year.
-Schedule sophomore appointments to discuss academic progress to date, junior year schedule, graduation requirements & college possibilities/options.
-Plan & coordinate College Night for seniors.
-Assist with Senior Awards Night.
-Plan & coordinate Financial Aid Night.
-Assist with PSAT standardized testing administered during the school day.
-Plan & coordinate annual College Fair.
-Serve as host to college admissions representatives during the college fair & campus visits.
-Announce & distribute all scholarship opportunities as well as all college & university summer enrichment/program information.

Mr. Jondle, as Director of Counseling, will be responsible for guiding and overseeing the entire College/Career/Personal Counseling Department and will serve as the direct Counselor for Juniors and Seniors. 

Mr. Jondle will also take over as the new Varsity Baseball coach. He will follow Roger Penticoff, who was 107-52 in his seven years in charge. Jondle has coached for 19 years, including eight at St. John Bosco and four at Santa Margarita. During his career, he has coached the likes of major leaguers Evan Longoria and Bud Smith and has helped nearly 100 student-athletes prepare for baseball at the collegiate or minor-league levels.

Mr. Jondle is a graduate of St. John Bosco High School and received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Iowa and his Pupil Personnel Services (P.P.S) Credential and M.S. in School Counseling from the University of La Verne. He is a parishioner of St. Joseph Parish and lives in Long Beach with his wife, his son (a 5th grader at St. Joseph’s) and his daughter (4 years old).
