College Counseling

St. Anthony High School provides comprehensive four year academic and college counseling. To best serve our students and their families, students are assigned counselors for their four years at SAHS.

Academic Counseling

At St. Anthony High School, academic counseling is focused on supporting students in their academic journey and personal growth. Counselors provide guidance on course selection, help students set academic goals. By working closely with students, teachers, and parents, counselors aim to create a supportive environment that fosters academic achievement and personal development.

Counseling Department Goals

In accordance with the standards set forth by American School Counselor Association, the Counselors at SAHS are committed to developing the following in each student with whom they work:

  • The development of the whole self-academic, spiritual, social-emotional and physical
  • A sense of acceptance, respect, support and inclusion for self and others
  • A positive attitude toward learning
  • Confidence in one’s ability to succeed
  • Using one’s abilities to the fullest to achieve high quality outcomes
  • Understanding that postsecondary education and a commitment to lifelong learning are essential for long-term success

Counselors’ Profession Commitment Statement

SAHS Counselors will:

  • See each student as a unique individual and provide support for the student’s academic, social and emotional needs.
  • Meet with each student multiple times (individually and in groups) each academic year.
  • Effectively utilize resources to provide current information regarding college admission and offer individualized guidance in the college exploration and application process.
  • Proactively monitor student’s academic progress and offer support for improvement as needed.
  • Partner with parents/guardians to meet student needs. Abide by professional ethical standards.

Naviance

We utilize Naviance Student, a comprehensive web-based planning and advising system that empowers students and parents to research careers and majors, discover colleges offering their desired majors, and track test scores, activities, and awards. This tool also aids in completing college applications and meeting requirements.
