Honorable Dan Lungren, Class of 1964
Dan Lungren was born and raised in Long Beach and graduate from SA in 1964. It should be not great surprise to any of his classmates that he chose politics after earning his A.B. with honors in English from the University of Notre Dame, you see his father, Dr. John Lungren, was personal physician to President Richard M. Nixon.

Congressman Dan Lungren has been a California public servant for more than 25 years.
Upon returning home from South Bend Indiana (the home of Notre Dame), Dan chaired the California Youth for Nixon for the 1968 Presidential campaign. He began law school at USC and then transferred to Georgetown University attaining his J.D. in 1971.Dan served on the Republican National Committee in 1971 -72. and the California State Bar in 1972. He also joined a Long Beach law firm specializing in a predominately civil trial practice.
After a failed attempt in 1976, Lungren was elected by the 34th District (Long Beach) to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1978. He took office in 1979 and served there until 1989 when he was appointed by California Governor George Deukmejian as California's Treasurer completing the term Jesse Unruh after his passing.
In 1990 California voters elected Dan State Attorney General where is was instrumental in passing the State's "Three Strikes" law and "Megan's Law" which gave Californian's the right to know if convicted sexual predator are residing in their neighborhoods. He served as Attorney General unit 1999.
Dan says that events of September 11th 2001 created the desire to rejoin Congress. Now living in the Sacramento area with his wife Bobbi who he met at Yosemite National Park while in college, Dan ran for and won California's 3rd District in 2004. Based on his five term seniority, he was reappointed to the Judiciary Committee and also serves on the Budget and Homeland Security committees.
Dan and his wife, Bobbi, have three adult children: Jeff, Kelly and Kathleen and two grandchildren Reagan Maria and Julia Elizabeth.
