Caruso Lirbary Learning Center

Vision Statement

Caruso Library prepares students for a lifetime of independent learning.  As educators, coaches, and role models we teach practical applications of technology, media, and information. We teach these skills in order to serve the students’ immediate collegiate needs and to prepare them for success in today’s information rich society.

The Caruso Library Learning Center is a modern facility equipped with a 20 seat computer lab which uses SMART Classroom technology, periodicals including Newsweek, Time, Seventeen, and more than 10,000 books in the traditional stacks formation.  Teachers bring students to the library every day for technology instruction, media production, and multi-media student presentations with the library teacher, Susan Brennan.

Check out the St. Anthony Library Links page for some great information and games.

Librarian’s Book List:

Totally Wired:  What Teens and Tweens are Really Doing Online

This Anastasia Goodstein book is a *must read* for anyone who works with, lives with, or cares about a teenager today.  While parents tend to use the Internet primarily for email or shopping, teenagers, as this book explains, instead mostly use it as a virtual hang-out.  The Internet is, to this generation, what the mall was to the teen of past decades. This book presents a balanced view of both the dark side of social networking sites and the creative nature of today’s techno-teens.  After reading this book, you will be prepared to begin an informed dialog with your teen about the blogs, MySpace, instant messages, and cell phones, which have become the air this generation breathes.
